The big right-handed pitcher will report to spring training soon. Woods Cross athlete signs with Montreal By TOM HARALDSEN BOUNTIFUL-Whether there's a 1 990 Major League B aseball season or not, the year has already turned out to be a success for a former Woods Cross High player. Kelly Fredericksen, son of Richard and Vicky Lynn Fredericksen of Bountiful, has signed a contract with the Montreal Expos, and will report to their spring training facility in West Palm Beach, Fla., when the current player lockout ends. Kelly graduated from Woods Cross in 1984, played one year at BYU, then served a two-year LDS Church mission to North Carolina. He has played the past two seasons at BYU as well. The 6-1, 205 pound right-hander walked on to the BYU team, and was used as a relief pitcher the past two seasons. He was scouted by the Expos, who signed him earlier this year. Fredericksen joins a number of other county ball players who've signed professional contracts. Depending on how, and when, the player's strike is settled, he could play at a number of levels this season. |
