Show Stress management class Davis County Mental Health is offering an eight-week community education class in stress management. manage-ment. The class is being offered at the Davis County Mental Health Center, 470 E. Medical Drive, Bountiful, and will be taught by Travis Campbell, MSW. It will be held from 6-8 p.m. each Wednesday Wednes-day evening beginning on Sept. 16. The class is an introduction in developing specific stress-management stress-management skills, and in changing chang-ing stress to a healthy and energizing energiz-ing force rather than an unhealthy tension which is how most people perceive stress. In these weekly classes, men and women can become more aware of the sources of stress in their lives and their personal reactions to stress, both physical and emotional. emotion-al. The body's stress response will be described as well as functional and dysfunctional adaptations we make to stressful events. A personal person-al assessment of stressors and stress levels is an integral part of the course. Also explored will be specific coping strategies; such as relaxation, relaxa-tion, visualization and cognitive management. Special emphasis is placed on understanding the relationship re-lationship between thoughts, behavior be-havior and emotion. The person who experiences numerous stress-related stress-related bodily complaints, such as headaches, backaches, fatigue, muscle tension, and ulcers would benefit most from this course. This class meets the requirements require-ments for BYU continuing education educa-tion credit for the Davis County School District. Tuition for the class is $32 and is payable the first night of class. Call Bill Patenaude at 298-3446 for pre-registration pre-registration or for more information. |
