Show Highlights of Holladay By Roma Lee Sundberg The forthcoming marriage of lovely Beverly Andrus gave Melva Omer, Janice Nielsen, and Olive Putnam the incentive to give her a bridal shower at the home of Mrs. Nielsen. The evening was spent in making a bride's book which carried pages representing the childhood, courtship, marriage and anni-. anni-. versaries of the bride-to-be. Refreshments Re-freshments were served to Beverly Bev-erly Mastrom, Elma Uzelac, Francis Stevenson, Phyllis Riches, Nancy Schwartz, Belva Bowthorpe and Carrie Andrus. Leaving all studies behind, Kimball and Dick Hansen, accompanied ac-companied by their wives, left the campus of the U. S. A. C. to spend the week end in Holladay with friends and relatives. The Holladay Merchants, still out in front in the County Recreational Rec-reational league, topped the Henager Business a week ago. They are now tied for the highest high-est standing in the league with me fetty Motor Company. Their opponent this week was the V. P. W. from Riverton whom they defeated 27-16. Spending the Thanksgiving holidays at home from the B. Y. U. were Margaret Hansen, Douglas Andrus, and Reed ' Smith. ! The fine play of Ralph Smith, Willis Andrus, Gale Sundberg, Glen Jacobs, Robert Dodge, Charles Lloyd, Reed Smith, Douglas Andrus,- Lamar Ridd, and Royce Nichol have brought the Holladay M Men to the top of their league after topping Mount Olympus Monday night. These boys are playing good ball and promise to stay at the top of the league all through the season. They are being led by Eldon Smith as coach. The biggest turkey news in Holladay this season, came from the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Lea of 1601 Siggard Drive. Their bird weighed in at 40 pounds. Mr. Lea grows his own turkeys each year on his own place and should be congratulated on his successful efforts. Dropped by the paint shop on the Boulevard the other day to discover that the Dennis' have sold out to Frank Winther. The Dennis' have moved to their new shop on Twenty-third East. Mrs. Dennis is carrying on her art work, and the Winthers will take over the paint and paper selling. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Nichol motored to Fillmore, Utah, to spend the week end with relatives rela-tives there. Mrs. Nichol, for-merlv for-merlv Shirlene Davies. is a for- mer resident of Fillmore. From Los Angeles, came Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nagy aijld Mrs. Sam Douglas to spend the Thanksgiving holidays at the home of " Mr. and Mrs. Harold Drage. Mrs. Nagy and Mrs. Douglas are sisters of Mrs. Drage. Other out-of-town guests at the Drage home were Mr. and Mrs. Mitchel Black of Provo. The conclusion of a six weeks' series of meetings sponsored by the PTA of Holladay was held Monday night at the Olympus |
