Show Vandals Dump Car in Lake at Fairmont Park Vandals (a term used by Lt. I Larson, head of the Sugar House police squad) were on the prowl again Thursday evening, according accord-ing to police officials . . . this time stealing a car and running it off the pier into the lake -at Fairmont Park. Police officials believe that the vandals are a part of a group of approximately a dozen "young punks" who have been menacing menac-ing private property in the southeast area during the last few weeks with acts of unjustified unjusti-fied vandalism. Early Wednesday morning, local lo-cal police were notified by Fairmont Fair-mont Park caretaker, Edward Swift, that a 1925 model Buick touring sedan had been driven off the pier into the waters of the lake. Mr. Swift reported that he had paid little attention atten-tion to it when he heard an old model car come ino the park late Wednesday night. He was surprised to discover early Thursday morning that the old car had been run off the pier, however, he reported to the police. Upon further investigation, police discovered that the car belonged to Dick Heilbut, son of Phillip Heilbut, 1370 Kensington Kensing-ton Ave. The car was stolen late Wednesday afternoon from its parking place near Sugar House. |
