LAKEVIEW is the first hospital hos-pital in the state of Utah to acquire ac-quire the MAC-II electrocardiograph electrocar-diograph which represents the most advanced in electrocardiographic electrocar-diographic capability. With installation in-stallation and testing of the unit completed, the MAC-II has been in operation since Oct. 4. The compact portable unit contains three computers which make it possible to get a computerized reading of a parent's pa-rent's heart activity. The in-terpretation in-terpretation prepared by the equipment can then be verified by a cardiologist. "It takes less time for laboratory personnel to perform the tracings trac-ings with the new MAC-II," said Lakeview Hospital's Laboratory Manager, Leo Thomsen. He added, "The machine has 12 leads which measure all heart impulses simultaneously, compared to the older model which measured mea-sured only one impulse at a time and required that the technician move the leads around on a patient's chest." THE MAC-n also has the capability to print the patient's name and other necessary information in-formation right at the patient's bedside. In addition, it can list medications which are being taken by the patient. The new machine produces multiple copies of each printout accurately accu-rately and efficiently, resulting in a savings of physician reading read-ing time without additional cost to the patient. |
