The advantages of a parent-volunteer parent-volunteer program are many fold. Not only do parents accomplish vital tasks, but their efforts permit teachers to devote more time to important one-on-one relationships with students. In addition, a closer bond is formed between teacher and parent with each understanding the other's challenges and appreciating the other's successes, Hank Emery, principal, commented. com-mented. THE VOLUNTEER program prog-ram has made education a part-nership part-nership between student, teacher and parent. Education became a little more special when mom anf dad are involved. in-volved. Mini classes are just getting underway at the school also staffed by parent volunteers. Held before and after school, classes include chorus, photography, photo-graphy, creative writing, ceramics, cera-mics, macrame, cross stitch, mustic writing and babysitting. babysit-ting. The 170 enthusiastic students stu-dents who are participating represent a large segment of the school nonulation. |
