Show Utes Take Top Spot In Basketball Race; I Eagles, Riders In Tie For Second; ! Roosevelt B' Squad Shows Power Team After trailing the Duchesne Eagles through most of the ball game, the Uintah Utes moved out front at the end of the third period 32-20 and then finished the game on the long end of a 42-37 score to take undisputed position of first place in the Uintah Basin division of Region 5 play. At Alterra the Roosevelt Roughriders rolled to a 40-30 victory to stay in the running as they beat the Spartans in a ball game that was close and hard fought all the way. Franklin Frank-lin Peterson, with 11 points was high scorer, but was pressed by Huber, of Alterra, who rack- ( ed up 10 pionts. Over at Tabiona, the Alta-mont Alta-mont Longhorns lost their J j fourth straight contest while the-1 the-1 Tabbies were registering a 47-33 47-33 victory for their first win of the season. The heavy scorer for the week-end was Moon, Tabiona center, who hit 8 from the field and 3 for 5 from the foul-Une for a total of 19. Iorg, Altamont forward, was next in the scoring column with 17. The Rough Rider "B" team maintained their fast pace in the greenling league by trouncing trounc-ing the Spartans 43-21. The sharpshooting of Lamb and the effective fault tossing by Ed dington accounted for 28 points for Roosevelt as the former hit 16 points, all from the field, and the latter made 4 for 4 and collected 4 from the field to give him 12 for the night.
