Show lew Directors Hamed For Roosevelt C of C. Five new directors have been chosen by the Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce to serve during the next three years, or from July 1, 1955 to June 30, 1958. Members of the Chamber voted by ballots mailed about ten days ago, and the votes were counted Tuesday by the committee. Those selected by the membership member-ship include Dr. R.. Vernon Larson, physician and surgeon; Donald Truman, manager of the Modern Drug; Lawrence Pack, local distributor dis-tributor for the Utah Oil Co,; George Miller, manager of Miller's Supply; and Kenneth Morgan, manager of J. C. Penney Co. They will replace Lynn Poulsen, Gordon Harmston, Kenneth Aycock, Howard How-ard Harrison and Victor Brown. Howard Harrison was elected a year ago as the president of the Chamber and served until a few weeks ago when his moving to California forced his resignation. Vice-president W. S. Murdock was elevated to the presidency and will serve until July 1, unless he is retained by the new board to serve during the current year, which begins on that date. Treasurer Treas-urer is LaVere Labrum, and the executive committee is Merlin Sullivan Sul-livan and Floyd Labrum. Mrs. Irene Ruppel is the executive secretary. sec-retary. Hold-over members of the board (one-year), are: Clifford E.. Drol-linger, Drol-linger, Wesley R. Dickerson, Law-rell Law-rell Jensen, Merlin Sullivan and Mr. Murdock. Two-year directors are: Floyd Labrum, LaVere Labrum, Lab-rum, Lynn Dye, Ben Turner and Robert Huish. Signs Erected Mr. Sullivan, chairman of the roads and highways committee, reported re-ported the state had replaced highway markers that previously had not included the name of Roosevelt, with signs showing Duchesne, Du-chesne, Roosevelt and Vernal, listing list-ing the distances to each town. He was not sure if they were erected west of Heber City, but had observed ob-served them from that community commun-ity east. Two highway signs, one west and the other east of Roosevelt, which were constructed by the Norton Sign Co., have been erected erect-ed and are now ready to greet the tourist. |
