Show School Goard Approves Alifiiiio Seivnge Plan Kindergarten On Full Time Basis Given Nod Approval of the final plans and specifications for a sewage disposal dispos-al system at the new Altamont School and authority to advertise for bids were among the main items it-ems of business taken care of by the Duchesne School Board at their last meeting. Bid opening was set for 2 p.m. on June 2 at the board office in Duchesne. The meeting, which was held on Friday, May 13, was presided over by B. A. Jacoby, vice-president, in the absence of President Theron Leavitt, who was ill.. All other members of the board and Supt. Rowan C. Stutz and Clerk C. C. Mickelson were in attendance. atten-dance. Supt Stutz reported on the new regulations and procedures, governing gov-erning building projects to be built under the 1955 State Emergency Emer-gency Building Fund. It was noted, that in order to provide facilities for full-time kindergarten kin-dergarten in the buildings to be built by State money, that full time kindergarten must be in operation op-eration by June 1, 1955. Authorization Au-thorization was received to proceed pro-ceed with the plans to remodel and build a new addition to the Roosevelt Roose-velt Eelementary School. Supt. Stutz presented a tentative tenta-tive budget for the 1955-56 school year, and reported a public hearing hear-ing for the adoption of this budget bud-get will be held late in June. He also presented a list of proposed building maintenance projects, which received the board's approval. ap-proval. Most of the work this summer will be done in the Duchesne Elementary, Ele-mentary, Myton and Neola schools. Approval was given for the participation par-ticipation of the school district in the curb and gutter project for the north side of the main street in Altamont. 300 feet of curb and gutter will be constructed in front of the school district properties-Approval properties-Approval was also given for the participation of the school district with the county commissioners, in a summer library program. They also gave permission for each school library in the district to open a half day a week during the summer. Funds for the employment for a summer library are being requested re-quested from the county commissioners commis-sioners and the service clubs within the county. A letter of resignation was received re-ceived from Mrs. Arietta Williams, Elementary Supervisor. The board accepted Mrs. Williams' request of release of her duties and instructed in-structed the superintendent to write her a letter of appreciation for her fine service for the five years she has been with the school district. The board gave approval for the appointment of Farrell Humphreys, principle of the Duchesne Elementary Elemen-tary School, as district guidance I director. Miss Diane Hullinger was employed em-ployed as a teacher in the Altamont Alta-mont High School. The resignation of Carlos Mar-sing Mar-sing as custodian of the Duchesne High School was accepted and Eddie Kielbasa was approved to take his place. |
