ROOSEVELT WARD Next Tuesday at 2 p. m. members mem-bers of the Relief Society of the Roosevelt L.D.S. ward are urged to attend the regular meeting at which time the theology lesson les-son will be given by Delia Whitehead. All visiting teachers are requested to be in attendance attend-ance to submit their reports Mrs. Mildred Smith, president reminds all members that this will be the last theology and testimony meeting until fall. RELIEF SOCIETY, SECOND WARD The Relief Society of the Roosevelt Roos-evelt L.D.S. Second ward will convene next Thursday at" 1:30 p. m., with a visiting teacher's meeting scheduled for 1 p m at which time Mrs. Lillian Chris-tensen Chris-tensen will present the visiting teachers' lesson. The theology lesson will be given at the 1:30 session by Mrs. Deone Galloway. Lesson titl is "Personal Manifestation of God, the Eternal Father, and of j His Son, Jesus Christ, in Mod- ;ern Times," and "Jesus the Christ to Return." I Visiting' teachers are requested request-ed to be present to give their ; reports and all members are urged to attend. BRIDGETTE CLUB Entertaining members of Brid-gette Brid-gette club last Thursday evening was Mrs. Mont Killian. whose guest list included the following: Mrs. Lynn Hatch, Mrs. Steve Bellon. Mrs. Msryell Nielson, Mrs. Bill Nelson, Mrs Elmer Eldredge, Mrs. Clem Labrum and Mrs. Johnnie Cook. A luscious salad luncheon was served, with bridge following. Prizes went to Mrs. Labrum, Mrs. Bellon, and Mrs. Cook. NEIGHBORHOOD SEWING Neighborhood hospitality prevailed pre-vailed Wednesday" evening of last week when Mrs. Don Crittenden Crit-tenden acted as hostess to her sewing club, serving a tasty dessert des-sert luncheon at the climax of the evening. Enjoying the evening were: Mrs. Guy Burton, "Mrs. Louis Laris, Mrs. LaRue Laris. Mrs. Llewellyn Jenkins, Mrs. Robert Hall, Mrs. Stanley Hall, Mrs. George Hacking and Mrs. Nel-don Nel-don Nyberg. TUESDAY BRIDGE In compliment to members of the Tuesday Bridge club. Mrs. V. A.' Bair entertained at the Frontier Grill this week, with the following members in attendance: at-tendance: Mrs. Les Mullins. Mrs. Myrtle Lambert, Mrs. Ray Jordan, Jor-dan, Mrs. Paul Wilkins. Mrs. Eugene Harmston, Mrs. J. O Orser, Mrs. Axel Birch, Mrs. Howard Harrison, Mrs. Gordon Harmston, Mrs. Sam Weiss. Mrs. Wayne Malin and Mrs. Bob Hu-' ish. A lovely luncheon was served, serv-ed, with bridge following, and prizes gtoing to Mrs. Harmston, Mrs. Malin and Mrs. Orser. ALTAR SOCIETY I Mrs. Gordon Harmston, newly I elected president of the Altar Society, presided at the meeting held Wednesday night of last week at the Catholic rectory. JUST-A-MERE CLUB A delightful social evening was enjoyed Wednesday, April 18, at the home of Mrs. Reva Owen, who feted Just-A-Mere club members with a delectable luncheon and bridge. Members and guests present were: Mrs. Jack Zimmerman, Mrs. Grant Killian, Mrs. Clair Larsen, Mrs. Glen Stone. Mrs. J. D. Walker, Mrs. Clint Killian, Mrs. Farrell Wilkins, Mrs. Wil-ford Wil-ford Robison, Mrs. Ed Labrum, Mrs. Lola Richens, Mrs. Ervin Wardle, Mrs. Velva Galloway, and Mrs Bill Fieldsted. Bridge prizes were won by Mrs. Zimmerman, Mrs. Killian. Mrs. Larsen and Mrs. Stone. SOCIALETTE and JUNIOR CULTURE CLUBS Convening in a joint meeting Monday night at the home of Mrs. Lynn Labrum were members mem-bers of the Socialette and Junior Culture clubs. Co-hostess for the evening was Mrs. Beth Brodeu. Jhe thirty-five guests present were highly entertained by Miss Elsie Harling, exchange teacher from England, who is teaching at Vernal She related many interesting in-teresting facts about her home country, making several comparisons com-parisons with the American way of living, customs, weather, etc. Each club voted to contribute $5 to the cancer campaign, and Mrs. Anthon Christensen and Mrs. Gordon Harmston reported the progress they have made as a committee from the Junior Culture club in laying plans for the landscaping of the new Union high school. They stated that a letter had been composed and given to Louis Jensen, county coun-ty agent, who will submit it to the U.S.A.C. for landscaping plans and ideas. All civic clubs and organizations organiza-tions will be asked to assist with the landscaping project. Mrs. Bert Burgess, newly-elected newly-elected president of Junior Culture Cul-ture club, presided. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostessess at the conclusion of the meeting. GUESTS FETED AT REED LYMAN HOME A group of friends assembled at the newly built Reed Lyman home in Pleasant Valley last Saturday evening to participate in a housewarming and also to observe the birthday of Lloyd Nelson. FORT. DUCHESNE WOMEN'S CLUB Clyde Johnson, music instructor instruc-tor at Alterra high school, presented pre-sented a delightful program of music at the regular meeting of the Fort Duchesne Women's club, held Thursday evening, April 12, at the club house. Other selections on the program pro-gram included vocal solos by Miss Esther Wogec, in French and in German, and piano selections se-lections by Miss Laura Ann Lea-vitt, Lea-vitt, who presented two solos. Mr. Johnson concluded the program pro-gram with several piano selections. selec-tions. Mrs. J. D. Kolb was chairman chair-man of the evening's program. During the regular business meeting, Mrs. E. M. Axtell reported re-ported en the Uintah Basin District Dis-trict convention held in Vernal recently and plans were discussed discuss-ed for attendance at the state convention of Federated Women's Wom-en's clubs to be held in Salt Lake City. Hostesses, Mrs. C. E. Faulkner Faulk-ner and Mrs. C. A. Massie, served serv-ed delicious refreshments at the close of the meeting to club members and guests. DINNER AT HAROLD DILLMAN HOME A family dinner was held at the Harold Dillman ; home on April 18. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Beaird and children, Paul and Laura Lee, of Temple City, California; Mr! and Mrs. Nolan Beaird and children, chil-dren, David, Joyce and Marilyn, of Vernal; and the Dillman family. fam-ily. Later in the evening, Mrs. Olan Perryman and children, Jerry, Linda and Shirley, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dillman and entertained the group by showing colored slides, M-MEN AND GLEANERS PLAN PARTY SATURDAY All M-Men and Gleaners and Junior M-Men and Junior Gleaners Glean-ers of the Roosevelt L.D.S. stake will join in a progressive dinner party Saturday night, April 28, with the event commencing at Neola at 8 p. m. The group will then progress to Roosevelt, and climaxing activity will be at Ioka. Arrangements are under the direction of the stake Gleaner leader, Mrs. Jack Leavitt, and the stake M-Men leader, James Hall. TEEN-AGE PARTY A group of teen-agers met at the home of Miss Maria Pulos last Thursday evening for an evening of tun, with games and dainty party refreshments comprising com-prising the entertainment. Guests included Maurine Ivory. Iv-ory. Nancy Rockwood, Beoma Young. Dorthy Dillman, Kara Lyn Smith, Rhea Sullivan, Patty Pat-ty Goodrich and Carol Memmott. I j LADIES FISH AND 1 GAME CLU3 PARTY Approximately fifteen ladies enjoyed a covered dish dinner Monday night at the Roosevelt Coffee Shop, sponsored by the Ladies' Fish and Game club. Games were played, including Bingo, which awarded the winner win-ner a beautiful painting contributed con-tributed by Mrs. Ford Gardner. The party was successful in every detail. MIA-MAIDS eLASB COOKS UP FUN" Following regular Mutual Monday night, the Mia-Maid class of the Roosevelt Second ward, under the direction of their teacher, Mrs. Faye Peterson, Peter-son, enjoyed "Cooking Up Fun" at the Peterson home. They baked cookies and muffins and made salad and punch, which all enjoyed when finished. Girls participating were: Marilyn Mar-ilyn Anderson, Rutli B.urr- Na-dme Na-dme Qark, Verna. Preston, Joyce Hall, Maxine Hurley. Carol Lynn Roberts, Catherine Rowley, Row-ley, Carol Schaefermeyer, Janet Stevens, Betty Timothy and Glenda Walker. |
