Show & school nous ALTERRA ELEMENTARY This Monday we had a show about transportation and road building. We saw how steam shovels and steam rollers and tractors work, to build roads for transportation. We learned about when the people used just one wheel on the things they used for transportation. We learned about them using two wheels and then three and then four wheels. We are glad we live now when they have these big machines to do the work. We had a show about brushing brush-ing our teeth. It was a story about a boy who went to the dentis't. The dentist filled one of his teeth and told him how to brush them so he wouldn't have to have any more filled. Also' the things he should eat to make strong, healthy teeth and gums. The dentist told him to brush up and then down on the outside and then on the inside. in-side. We all learned the best way to brush our teeth. We have had fun making Valentines Val-entines in school and will be glad when ' the time comes fox our Valentine party. Our room received one of the Honor Awards for buying Saving Sav-ing Stamps this week. Thursday was P-TA. Everyone was to wear a hat. Those winning win-ning the prizes were: Mr. Goodrich, Good-rich, the largest hat; Mrs. Burgess, Bur-gess, the smallest hat and .Mrs. Surgeon, the prettiest hat. 'Mr. Hicks' room won the picture for this month and the peanut treat for having the largest number of parents attending P.T.A. "A Note To Our Parents." Dear Parents of the Third Grade: Will you please come to P.T. ' A.? The next meeting will be March 5. We would like very much to win the picture for our room. We are sure you will have a good time at P.T.A. Ten highest high-est from each grade are listed, honors being determined on a point system. . ' ' " A seventh grader, Kay Chugg, received the highest score, 9.83 average; Gale Larsen scored second, sec-ond, with the score of 9.67, with Mary Ellen Giles and Arlene Ar-lene Burson tied for third with the score of 9.50 Honor roll is as follows: Ninth Grade Robert Jensen, Nadine Chugg, Arlene Lawson, Ray Smith, Marva Horrocks, Maurine Yack, Connie Stevens, Annie Lee Christensen, Geniel Shelton and Karen Nelson. Seventh Grade Kay Chugg, Arlene Burson, Joyce Gingell, Arvella Eksund, Marcia Lemon, Maxyne Owens, Carma Gardner, Gard-ner, Cheri Nelson, Edna Burr, David Dickerson, Darlene Hux-ford Hux-ford and Marsha Lusty. Braving the jinx day, Friday 13, twenty-four members of the student council, including home room representatives and club presidents, will travel to Provo as guests of the Farrer Junior High School. They plan to spend the entire day at the Farrer, observing ob-serving their student council in action, attending, the assembly and matinee dance. They will be accompanied by several parents of the students and Principal Jensen. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs. Miller on the birth of a beautiful baby daughter! |
