Show (' ' ' . ' N !. t r - MR. AND MRS. MILTON H. NICKELL, who celebrated celebrat-ed their Golden Weddh-g anniversary with a dinner at their home for family membjrs. They were married January 1, 1903 at Dry Fork, Vu. ..a;i County, Utah f.liiton flickers Observe 50tli Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Milton H. Nick-ell Nick-ell celebrated their Golden Wedding Wed-ding anniversary recently with a family dinner at their home in Roosevelt, with members of their family present. The Nickells were united in marriage Jan. 1, 1903 at Dry Fork, Uintah County, Utah, with Mathew Caldwell, grandfathe: of Mrs. Nickell, performing the ceremony, and later received their endowments in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mr. Nickell was born Aug. 19, 1878 in Flat Gap, Johnson county, coun-ty, Kentucky, a son of V. T. and Amanda Harris Nickell. At the age of 13 he came to Ashley Valley with his parents, who were converts to the LDS Church. He worked at farming and ;tockraising and worked for tho government at Randlett as an Indian farmer from 1904 to 1910. He and his wife hom-steaded hom-steaded a farm in Cedarview and in August, 1927, moved to Roosevelt, where they have since resided. When test pits were started for the Moon Lake j reservoir, Mr. Nickell dug the first shovel full of dirt. He worked for the Sterling Transportation Trans-portation Company and the city. He has been city sexton for 15 years. Active in the LDS church, he is a member of the High Council and has been a block teacher for some time. Mrs. Nickell was born April 21 1884, at Huntington, Emery county. Utah, a daughter of Wm. G. and Eleanor E. Gelles-pie Gelles-pie Caldwell, coming to Ashley Valley when a small child. She is also active in church work, having served as captain of the DUP for six and a half years. She has held other offices artd also works in the Relief Society. The Nickells are the parents of seven children, three of whom are still living; and have eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The children living are: Mrs. Loren (Essie) Alexander and Lynn Nickell, of Roosevelt, and .Mrs. Bert H. (Ethel) Taylor, of Rangely, Colorado. |
