' . i The young polio victims quite stole the hearts of the basketball fans.. when they crossed the : gymnasium -floor at the Union- Altamor.t game in a wheelchair and on' crutches. Three girls. J Janet Stevens, Carol Schaefer-I Schaefer-I meyer and Carol Todd, sang a j song dedicated to the March of j Dimes, which was composed by j Mrs. Don Crittendon. i The enthusiastic, crowd re-! re-! sponded by tos'sing $18.05 into blankets carried by Pep Club girls.. In charge of the event was Mrs. Anthon B. Christensen. county March of Dimes director and Mrs. Kent Johanson. chairman, chair-man, county school activities. Mrs; Christensen reported, that practically all countv work-ers. work-ers. have their supplies and it ''s expected that every honi3 in the county will ba contacted for a polio contribution before January Jan-uary ends, ' Anthon B. Christensen. county coun-ty chairman, reported that over $500.00 has been disDersed from the -1952 county fund's for hospital hos-pital and doctor bill? for the first three Duchesne countv victims. vic-tims. Word ' was received this week from the state headquar ters to. retain any additional funds, which were to be siit in to the national headquarters, for . further use in the casj of the two recent polio cases in the county. - Mr. Christensen further stat-ed: stat-ed: "If you. or any of your friends in Duchesne countv need polio' help, contact your coaiify I chapter chairman." |
