For Roosevelt City Another step toward centralizing central-izing the affairs of Roosevelt city under one business office was effected the first of the year when Mayor J. V. McLea announced the appointment of Mrs. Irene K. Fretwell as office manager, with offices in the municipal building. Her salary is $225.00 per month. According to Mayor McLea, the affairs of the city have been largely handle through the privates-homes of the recorder and treasurer. However. , it was the thinking of the council that with the growth Roosevelt was experiencing ex-periencing and the future potential, poten-tial, it was time the citv building build-ing be . used for city business. Then, too, the selecting of an office manager is a step toward a full-time recorder, which will be appointive after the end of the present elective term of George Hacking, recorder. The last legislature passed a law making city recorders appointive appoin-tive rather than elective. A native of Ogden, Mrs. Fret-well Fret-well came to Roosevelt in Oct. 1945 as publisher and business manager of the Roosevelt Standard., Stan-dard., after , having purchased the newspaper from George Harrison. Har-rison. On Sept. I,.- 1950, Mrs. Fretwell sold the Standard to Clifton N. ' Memmott. but remained re-mained affiliated with the prim ing and publishing firm as a linotype lin-otype operator until accepting the city position Jan. 1.' |
