Show Vernal Man, Myton Lady Head District 9 Legion Duchesne Hosts Successful Meet On Sunday June Hacking, member of the Whitbeck Post No. 11, Sunday was elected to the office of commander command-er for District No. 9, at the convention con-vention held at Duchesne, and Mrs. Florence Lott, Myton, and member of the Wm. R. Sands Unit Un-it No. 5, was chosen to lead the Auxiliary. Mr. Hacking will succeed suc-ceed Calvin Monks of Myton, and Mrs. Lott replaces Mrs. Tina Wil-kins, Wil-kins, Roosevelt, as Auxiliary president. pres-ident. Other officers elected were Norman Nor-man Holmes, Neola, and member of the Ft. Duchesne past, vice-commander; Mrs. Lena, Sixkiller, Ft. Duchesne was the choice for first vice-president and Mrs. Lily Goff, Duchesne, is the 2nd vice-pres-dent. An adjutant and secretary will be appointed by the new leaders, lead-ers, as well as district committees. All newly elected officers will be installed at the Utah Department Depart-ment convention which is to be held in Vernal next June. It was estimated that approximately 175 attended the Sunday convention. Commend Young Leaders Many of the long-time Legion-nairs Legion-nairs and Auxiliary members of Duchesne, commended the younger young-er group for their handling of affairs af-fairs for the semi-annual American Ameri-can Legion convention of District No. 9, held at Duchesne, Sunday. Some of the elder Legionnaires remarked re-marked it was one of the finest conventions ever held in the district. dis-trict. Talent appearing on the banquet-program for the convention, included: song and dance numbers by Ecce Lynn Esauk, Juanita Wim-mer Wim-mer accompanist; a humorous reading, Maxine Lewis; "It's a Wise Brother Who Knows His Own Sister;" songs, by Lonnie Thacker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thacker of Price (Lily Goff's nephew), who played his electric guitar accompaniment; a humorous reading, Elden Wilcken, "Reading the Weekly Newspaper," |
