Show Winning Essays Read At Auxiliary Meeting Members of the American Legion Leg-ion Auxiliary, Unit 64, convened Wednesday, April 13, at the Legion Leg-ion Hall for a regular meeting, which was under the direction of M a 1 1 i e Edwards, Americanism chairman. Auxiliary essay winners were introduced and were called on to read their essays. They included in-cluded Marilyn Winterton, first place; Ann Murphy, second place; and Don Winterton, third place. The president, Teresa Harmston, presided at the meeting and refreshments re-freshments were served by the hostess, Oleta Marie Neilson. The next meeting will be held Saturday afternoon, April 30, instead in-stead of April 27. as previously scheduled. CO-ORDINATING COUNCIL. . . Youth Council Set Up A Duchesne County Youth Council has been organized, reports re-ports Mr. Mohlman, of Altamont. This council's primary purpose is to assist with planning programs to solve youth problems in Duchesne Du-chesne County. Some projects under un-der consideration are (1) Driver Training Course; (2) Teen-age Canteens during the summer months; (3) Adult Education dealing deal-ing with problems of youth. Members of this Duchesne County Coun-ty Youth Council are Clinton J. Mickelson, Duchesne, chairman; Walter T. Williams, Duchesne; school representative; Paul Murphy, Mur-phy, Roosevelt, Latter-day Saints church representative; Clarence D. Moat, Duchesne, Duchesne County Coun-ty Public Welfare Director; Fay Pope, Duchesne, Duchesne County Public Health Nurse; Reed Hansen, Han-sen, Vernal, district child welfare director; Glen Freeman, Vernal, district juvenile probation officer; Lorin Stevenson, Duchesne, Duchesne Du-chesne county sheriff; Sheriff Carter, Car-ter, Ft. Duchesne; Roe McDonald, Roosevelt City marshall. Miss Reichert has announced that under the Cultural Program, directed through the Duchesne Coordinating Co-ordinating Council, appearances have been scheduled for performances perform-ances of the University of Utah Male- Chorus in the county on March 4 and 5. She explained that the purpose of this committee was to stimulate groups to bring more cultural programs of this type to Duchesne County. Sponsors Concerts The May 4 evening concert by the U. of U. Male Chorus is being be-ing sponsored by the four Roosevelt Roose-velt wards of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Roosevelt stake center. On May 5, the chorus will give lyceum concerts at Union, Altamont and Duchesne High Schools; and that evening, the Duchesne Health Center is sponsoring the group's performance at the Duchesne stake chapel. |
