The annual report, through June 30, 1943, was delayed by the great volume of. operations , and joint audits with the army and navy on shared enterprises. Expansion of Red Cross work was emphasized by the report of $42,391,000 expended for services ser-vices to men and women in the armed forces, their families and war casualties. That was an increase of 296 per cent over the $10,712,000 spent for such work in the previous year, during nearly half of which the United States was at peace. |
