SOLAR CLASS Employees of the Utah State Horticultural Farm in Farming-ton Farming-ton demonstrate solar platforms which will be discussed at a class on solar heating Thursday (Nov. 8) at 7 p.m. A class on how to build and operate oper-ate a solar water heating unit for the home will be held on Thursday, Nov. 8. according to Shawn Olsen, Utah State University Extension agent. The class will be held at the Utah State University Horticulture Horticul-ture Farm located at 1817 N. Main, Farmington. Starting time is 7 p.m. A FOLLOW-UP workshop will be scheduled to teach interested homeowners the assembly, installation, instal-lation, and operation of a solar system sys-tem on their home. More than 350 of these efficient do-it-yourself solar so-lar hot water systems have been built in the state the past three years. Dr. Wayne Ringer, USU Extension Exten-sion energy specialist, will be the resource person for the information informa-tion class and the workshop. He said the systems can supply 50 to 70 percent of a family's hot water needs over a year. HIS OWN solar system has been supplying hot water for three and a half years with good results. "All energy on earth can be traced to the sun," Ringer said. "Why not use it." FOR MORE information, call the Davis County Extension office, 451-3402. |
