Show Parent-Teen Seminars, Planned One of the most challenging tasks of parenthood has always been helping youngsters through the teenage years. Parents of today are finding this endeavor increasingly increas-ingly more difficult and confusing as the profound technical and social so-cial changes of the decade are infiltrating infil-trating the family. THE REGION III PTA and the Davis School District's Parent Education Research Center, have teamed together to present a parent seminar which will help parents better understand the challenges both they and their adolescents face. The event "Surviving the Turbulent Teens," is planned for Thursday, Nov. 8. The location will be the North Layton Jr. High School, 1 100 West 2000 N., Layton. The evenings activities will begin at 7 p.m. and a $1 fee will be collected at the door. During the evening, three indi vidual workshops are to be presented pre-sented and participants will have the opportunity of attending two. Milt Shaum will address "The Teenage Years: Stresses, Dilemmas Dilem-mas and Challenges." f MR. SHAUM comes well prepared pre-pared to discuss these pertinent topics as he works daily with troubled trou-bled youth in his position as Pupil Personnel Director for the Davis District. He holds a Masters Degree De-gree in Social Work and has worked work-ed extensively in behalf of youth and families over the past 25 years. He is married and the father of six children. Ann Benson will talk on "Enjoying "En-joying Life with Teenagers: Using the Positive Approach." She is the mother of three sons ranging in ages from 1 1 to 18, therefore much of her wisdom comes from practical practic-al experience and her'positive approach to parenting is reflected in her warm and humerous manner. man-ner. She is currently enrolled in the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Utah. Much of her professional experience has been working with youth and families. fami-lies. MARY HUGHES will discuss "Hanging in Through Tears, Tur- moil and Troubles; Survival Skills for Parents." Mrs. Hughes holds a masters degree in social work. She is the director of the District's Parent Pa-rent Education Resource Center and has been instrumental in developing de-veloping that program. She is married mar-ried and the mother of six.
