Show Millcreek Junior High PTA Launches Motivating Programs The Millcreek Jr. High PTA has launched the 1984-85 school year with several motivating programs. ONE OF these is the Volunteer program which has gained quick momentum following a needs assessment by the parents this fall. Many of the concerns expressed arc resolving themselves as parents pa-rents are becoming actively involved in-volved as volunteers. They are assisting both teachers and the office administration by correcting papers, tutoring, acting as aids in the science and home economics departments, etc. A dramatic example of volun-teerism volun-teerism was demonstrated during the recent snow storm when Mr. Christensen, the school's choir director, was unable to travel from his home in Salt Lake in time for first period. A call was made to the PTA president and a parent who is a musician was summoned and skillfully led the choir through their dress rehearsal for their performance per-formance that evening. Many more parents are needed to assist in this program which strengthens not only the school but also the bonds between parent and student. AN EMERGENCY preparedness prepared-ness program is also initiated with supplies currently being purchased pur-chased and various drills planned to ensure the safety of the students in many different kinds of emergencies. : The PTA has only one fund raising rais-ing project during the year which benefits all involved. This is the individual portraits which will be taken on Monday, Nov. 5 from 2:30-7. The pictures will be back the first of December in time for. Christmas giving. Please circle the date and hove your pictures taken: and support Millcreek's PTA pur-, poses. |
