Show Editorial . . . THE PEOPLE MUST DECIDE Pleasant Grove's proposed community swimming pool project has passed the hoping stage. Tentative plans have been drawn, possible sites are available and the city Fathers have approved what has been done to date. The people of this community must now face the hard, cruel facts of where the money is coming from. Rough estimates indicateat at least $70,000 will be necessary to provide the type of Aiodern swimming pool that the planners have in mind. Whether this amount is too much or not enough, remains to be seen. At any rate, it will be a sizable investment. Like all projects of public benefit, the major part of the money will come out of the pockets of the people who live here, either in direct taxes or hidden taxes. Mayor Burton H. Adams displayed good judgment in calling a public hearing on the important matter for 7:30 p.m. Friday April 1, in the Junior High School auditorium. It is hoped that the citizens of Pleasant Grove attend in representative numbers to hear detailed reports as to methods of financing, operation and maintenance. A project of this magnitude warrants most serious and careful consideration. Mistakes, if any, should be made on paper not in the. project itself. In the final analysis, "The People Must Dedice!" |
