Show Swimming Pool in Pleasant Grove Gets Discussion Friday Night at Public Meeting7 7:30 The Mayor and City Council have oalled a special public hearing hear-ing concerning the proposed new swimming pool in Pleasant Grove. The meeting will be held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Junior Hig'h School Auditorium. The purpose of the (meeting, according to Eleroy West, swimming swim-ming pool committee chairman, is to determine whether the citiens of Pleasant Grove, Lindon and Manila are willing to support the construction of a new pool, and to discuss the proposed site, and construction, and possible means of financing, as well as other problems rgearding the pool. If the citizens of the Pleasant Grove area get behind the project with a great deal of enthusiasm, the pool might be completed for v swimming this summer. Preliminary engineering is at present underway with Paddock Pool Company of Salt Lake City doing the work and a working agreement has been reached for paying for this service. After considering several possible pos-sible sites, the swimming pool committee recommended to the city council and they accepted the proposed -area between the new high school and Locust Avenue as the most desirable site. Subsequently Sub-sequently the Alpine District Board of Education has agreed to make available this land for the construction of a pool. The estimated cost of the pool will be between $60,000 and $70,000. This means that the average cost per family for the people living in Manila, Lindon and Pleasant Grove will be about $50. However, substantial contributions contri-butions by various clubs and civic groups may reduce the amount to be collected, Mr. West stated. Mr. West urged oitizens to attend at-tend this meeting at the beautiful beauti-ful new pool and potential park area will be definite asset to our city. |
