Show New Members Are Inducted Into Lions Club There should be no important' change in the level of business activity in Central Utah and surrounding sur-rounding territory before the latter lat-ter part of 1952, Dr. Willaim F. Edwards, dean of BYU College of Commerce, told members of the Pleasant Grove Lions Club and their wives Wednesday evening at the First Ward recreational hall. The Provo Lions Club sponsored the evening5s program on the "Interclub Visiting Contest." A-nother A-nother feature of the evening was the induction of three new members mem-bers to the Pleasant Grove Club. zusRThex-aerads Those presented by Chairman of Membership Gerald Belliston are: Kay Jacobs, Assistant Cashier, Bank of Pleasant Grove; Clarence Rasmussen, Pleasant Grove Real Estate man; and Edward Wilde, local representative of Idaho Mutual Mut-ual Benefit Association. After the, presentation of three new members mem-bers H. E. Bradly gave the induction induct-ion speech. The meeting was under un-der the direction of President Paul Adamson. "The wise businessman in Central Cen-tral Utah will look upon the current cur-rent period as a time to strengthen strength-en his financial position in anticipation anti-cipation of problems commencing to appear on the more distant horizen," Dr. Edwards pointed out. In discussing the outlook for business employment and the cost of living Dr. Edwards stated that barring unfavorable weather during dur-ing the growing season the prospects pros-pects for farmers is for further improvement in income "Consumers will find available in the stores an abundant supply of soft goods such as food, textiles textil-es ,and shoes. Production of consumer' con-sumer' durable goods refrigerators, refrigerat-ors, automobiles, washing machines mach-ines and the like will be curtailed curtail-ed considerably during the first and second quarters of the year because of the allotment of steel, copper and other metal allotments," allot-ments," the speaker concluded. |
