Show American Fork High School Notes Enthusiasm among the students d the high school was at high pitch this week in anticipation of the game with Pleasant Grove which was in progress Friday night after we went to press. Three consecutive rallies were held at the school, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons. The pep rally Wednesday followed a short Lincoln program of which the main feature was a talk by Kudolpn S. Clark. The students were given a big surprise when with the drawing of the stage curtains, a huge red and white "A" electrically lighted, was exposed to view and amid the cheers of the assembly the school songs and yells were given. Thursday afternoon's rally was marked by speeches from the members mem-bers of the team in -which they expressed ex-pressed their appreciation for the school spirit and their desire to bring home the victory. Clarence Grant sang several numbers and also continued con-tinued his "fable" of the week before in -which, the "Caveman" engaged in a furious battle with the "Berry Glom-er" Glom-er" and fought till there -was nothing left but "Rags", etc. A clever stunt wao pulled by a group ol girls -who held red and white streamers leading to a championship cup followed by the school song. Mis8 Newman gave a clever little talk in which she worked in the names of the team: A "Tun" center, a "Miner" who could dig in, a genuine "Crystal". "Steele" and Nicholes made of good, hard substance, "Skinner" "Skin-ner" (nuff sed) "Preston" to victory, "Walker" who walked away with it. "Fay" and "Pat" who do things up Brwa and Anderson who can tackle a tnrkey dinner with viam Coach Ingersoll spoke and Luther Giddings Introduced a song of days gone by which was taken up with great spirit. Friday's rally was featured, by a Valentine box from which Pleasant a Grove drew a "broken heart" and 1- American Fork a championship cup. j Uembers of the faculty spoke and school sanga and yella were also b given. |
