Show Salt Lake Elan Attempts Suicide Here Quick action, and the use of oxygen by Dr. V. F. Houston saved P. A. Olsen's lite here Tuesday evening following a deliberate atteppt at suicide. The man was discovered on west Main street by Sidney Nicholes, Jr., and Leonard Chipman. He was slumped down in an unconcious condition con-dition in a small coupe, the engine of which wag still running. The doctor was immediately summoned and the man removed to .his office where the administration of oxygen under pressure pres-sure for two hours brought him to. Examination of the car showed that the heater had been, removed and the end of the exhaust pulled into the car. A cardboard had been, placed plac-ed under it to force the carbon monoxide mon-oxide gas into the small compartment. The car had been noticed in. the neighborhood all afternoon but people peo-ple surmised some one was drinking there and paid no attention to it. The man refused to talk after he regained conciousness but It was learned that he has a wife and two children in Salt Lake whom he deserted de-serted two months ago. Tie remained remain-ed at the Grant Hotel and is out of danger although he still suffers pains in the lungs from the effects of the gases. |
