Show Supt. David Gourley Speaker At Lions Club Lion David Gourley, superintendent ot the Alpine School District, was the speaker at the Lions meeting on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, February 12. He gave a very interesting and instructive talk on the educational problems of the district. dis-trict. Musical numbers were rendered render-ed during the evening by the Misses Maybelle and Gwcnivere Farr. ' Lion A. P. 'Warnick, chairman o the membership committee suggested that names be placed upon the "waiting "wait-ing list o individuals who may be interested in becoming members o the organization. Lion C. O. Jensen reported that by next meeting the Civic committee would have plans worked out for the club to consider on problems of civic importance. As the meeting closed Lion President Presi-dent E. R. West suggested that an entertainment of some nature be presented pre-sented by the club as a means of raising funds to he used for the fostering fos-tering of some worthy cause in the community. Lion F. M. Poulson was appointed head of the committee ?nd will choose members to help him in working out this entertainment. All members present suggested themselves as standing for the follow-ing follow-ing principles of Lionism: First, full and hearty, co-operation with all other clubs in all movements in the community which seek to promote any betterment, civic, industrial or educational, and any plans looking towards the elimination of class distinction, dis-tinction, especially among those who need instruction and guidance in care and feeding of children. Second, Strict adherence to the highest code of ethics in all our business and social relations. The highest asset of any nation being its people, one of the cardinal points of Lionism is the cultivation cul-tivation of a spirit of genuine brotherhood broth-erhood among men. |
