Show Thornton Drug Store Burglarized Burglars forced the front door of the Thornton Drug No. 1 sometime between midnight and 3 a.m. Thursday Thurs-day morning, secured the day's cash receipts and quietly departed by way of the rear door. The "job" was discovered by Officer Birk at 3 a. m. when he made his rounds. No clue has as yet been discovered but it is presumed some local person did the "job' The store was closed at the usual hour and the receipts deposited in a can and hid in the store. There was $60.90 in silver in a paper sack and alongside in an account book checks and ten dollars in currency. Only the silver was taken, the currency being overlooked. There was also five dollars dol-lars in change in the front .till which was not taken. As far as can be determined nothing noth-ing else in the store was molested except ex-cept the day's receipts. It is presumed presum-ed the person doing the "job" watched watch-ed the clerk put away the money from a window for they evidently lost no time in finding the cash and could not have been in the store long. Entrance was gained by prying the front doors open with a pinch bar. The lock was completely smashed. smash-ed. The bolt was drawn on the rear door by which the intruder left. Both doors were found unlocked when Officer Birk discovered the burglary at 3 a. nu. He had previously checked check-ed the door at midnight. |
