Show What's P.C. got? The ultimate success of Park City's tourism business rests on the thousands of front line employees who greet our guests on arrival. To reemphasize the importance of hospitality, the Park Citv Area ChamberBureau held its annual Winter Employee Training Sessions last Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 5 and 6, at the Yarrow Holiday Inn. More than 200 front desk, maintenance, main-tenance, housekeeping and hotel restaurant employees attended the workshops. This year, the employee workshops work-shops were organized by various ChamberBureau committees for their employees. The Lodging Committee chose to vary the workshop format from previous years. This year, employees were welcomed with a skit about hospitality. Wednesday's skit was orchestrated and performed by Richard Scott of Central Check-In, and Kris McComb, membership director for the Chamber Bureau, with Teri Whitney, Lodging Committee Commit-tee chairperson, filling in on Thursday. , Employees then heard tips on being resourceful or "where to get answers to all those questions" from Kris McComb. She explained the variety of information available through the Park City Historical MuseumVisitor Center, and brochures bro-chures such as the Chamber Bureau's Visitor Guide, Menu Guide, Calendar of Events, Transit Guide, City Map and Sourcebook. Following a slide who, Marty Melcher, director of marketing for the Chamber Bureau, covered details de-tails on the ski areas, the Interconnect Adventure and the many business establishments and -services available to guests. At 9 :30 the employees moved into the adjacent room for a trade show featuring representatives of various recreation activities in town. Each company had a booth, and employees em-ployees wandered around the room asking questions, picking up brochures, and entering their names to win prizes offered to encourage employees to try the many activities Park City has to offer. Four Park City Transit buses met the group out in front of the Yarrow after the trade show for a one-hour town tour. Following the regular city-wide Park City Transit route, the tour guides described historic sites and points of interest for employees. Upon the group's return to the Yarrow, winners of the various prizes were announced. Everything from theater tickets and ski posters to ski passes and a day of snowcat skiing were given away. The Chamber Bureau staff would like to thank all the employees who attended, and the many members who helped make our Winter Employee Training Sessions such a success. |
