Show flDMttmigairneg Rachael Baxter O'Connor Rachael Baxter O'Connor passed away Nov. 22 in a Salt Lake care center. She was 86. She was born Nov. 9, 1898 in Park City to David and Margaret Wells Baxter. Her father donated land near what is now the Park City Ski Area which became the site of the Miners Hospital, said O'Connor's niece, Helen Tippetts. The deceased was one of nine children. She married Michael Charles O'Connor on April 17, 1920. He died Feb. 1, 1936. She moved from Park City in the mid-1980s and lived in Salt Lake for the rest of her life. She frequently visited Park City, said Tippetts, and often spoke of it during her stay in the care center. She was a telephone operator for Mountain Bell Inc.. a cook for Keeley's Restaurants and a cook for the Shriner's Hospital. She is survived by grandchildren Michael O'Connor (South Salt Lake), Mrs. Creigh (Patti) Gibson (of Morris Plains, New Jersey); Brian O'Connor, Lisa O'Connor, and Briget O'Connor (all of Midvale); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sons Douglas and Michael Thomas. Funeral services were held in Salt Lake's Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Joseph I. Fritch Joseph L Fritch, a former Park City resident, died on Nov. 27 at St. John Hospital in Detroit. He was 81. Mr. Fritch moved here as a youngster and was a barber in Park Citv for many years. He moved in the mid-fifties to St. Clair Shores, near Detroit, and lived there for the rest of his life. He visited Park City last July 24. He was a member of Eagle's Lodge 2437 in Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children Louis (Milford, Michigan), Mrs. Charles (Mickey) Cucuiat and Mrs. Dorothy O'Mara (both in California), Mrs. Kenneth (Josephine) Moore (Roseville, Michigan); and Anne Fritch (St. Clair Shores); half brother Jack Rukavina (Park City), brother John L "Blacky" Frkovich (Las Vegas), and a sister, Mary Chapman (Modesto, Calif.); seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held in St. Germaine Church, of St. Clair Shores. Reed B. Greenwood Reed B. Greenwood, 76, of Jerome Idaho, died Sunday Dec. 9, at Magic Valley Regional Center. Born Nov. 10. 1908 at Central Utah. He was raised and educated in Park City. He worked in the Park City mines and was also a police officer in Park City. He married Helen Nicholsen in Elko, Nevada on Nov. 10, 1965. They lived in Jerome, Idaho. He was a member of the L.D.S. church and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War IL and was a member of the V.F.W. and D.A.V. Surviving are: his wife of Jerome; one daughter, Dorothea Poundy and a son Ralph Greenwood both of Salt Lake City; and 4 stepsons and 3 stepdaughters; one brother Harvey Greenwood of Auburn, Wash.; five sisters: Marjorie Sessions of Midway, Utah, Aileen Leahy of Salt Lake City, Melba Carlson, Mabel Jordan and Wanda Archer of California. He had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He as preceded in death by a sister, Fern Evans. Services were held Dec. 12 in Jerome. Burial was in the Jerome Cemetery following military rites. |
