Show Man hurt in freeway accident A Salt Lake. man was injured during a chain-reaction accident Saturday night on 1-80 near Silver Creek Junction. The mishap occurred when Casper Michael Dun-kel, Dun-kel, 31, sustained a dead battery in his 1983 Ford Pinto, according to the report by Highway Patrol officer Lynn Sadler. The car stalled in the one available lane that was moving westbound west-bound on the highway. Dunkel was standing on the road, attempting to push the Pinto to the side, when a 1976 Datsun pickup approached, ap-proached, driven by Jeffrey M. Brown, 25, of Midvale. Brown attempted to swerve but he struck the Pinto, and the Pinto struck Dunkel. The collision occurred at 6:04 p.m. No injuries were sustained by Brown or his passenger, Michael T. O'Connor, 25, of Salt Lake. But Sadler estimated esti-mated there was $500 damage to the pickup and $400 damage to the Pinto. At this writing Dunkel was undergoing surgery at Holy Cross Hospital. Previous to that, his condition had been listed as satisfactory. |
