Show The Old Soft Shoe wants to meet your feet All this time you've been saying to yourself, "If I could only get the money I'd open a shoe store in this town. It sure needs one!" Too late. Jim Green, buyer manager of the Old Soft Shoe, a new Park City business, has beaten you to the punch. No longer do Parkites have to tread on down to Salt Lake for shoes. No longer is it a real feat to cover your feet. Green's Old Soft Shoe is Park City's only complete all-around shoe store. "We've got just about everything every-thing for your feet," he says. Getting to the sole of the store, Green estimates his stock at about 2,000 pairs of shoes. He's got tennis shoes, dress shoes, sport shoes, running shoes, boots, and slippers. He also carries men's and women's socks, and purses not exactly for your feet, but close enough. And the brands: Bass, Frye, Playboy, Pierre Car-din, Car-din, Saffron, 9 West, Can-die's, Can-die's, Parigi, Kimel, among others. He picked his brands, he says, by their quality and advertising background. For this area Green expects his Bass and Candie's casual shoes and his Frye boots to be best sellers. This is Green's second involvement in a retail shoe store. He is part owner of a clothing and shoe store in Claire, Michigan. That family fami-ly business has given Green over 10 years of experience in selling shoes. He says he has wanted to open up a shoe store in Park City for over three years, but the situation wasn't right until now. "I've always thought it was needed." And on Dec. 1 the idea became a reality in the old Lolo's restaurant location. The building has been split into two stores, with Green taking the left side, and Sweaters Only taking the right. Green says the renovation reno-vation before opening took over a month of nearly round-the-clock work. For those interested in doing something nice for their feet, remember after all, that they do take you everywhere. The Old Soft Shoe will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. |
