Bottoms Up, which is currently cur-rently sharing the location with Parry's Christmas trees has been started by two seasoned ski patrolmen from ParkWest, Dave Scroggin Scrog-gin and Brian Harrington. The business features overnight pick-up and delivery deliv-ery especially designed for visitors who can't afford to let their skis sit idle for a day. Their philosophy is that the condition of a skier's equipment can make a big - difference ja Ma enjoyment of the sport. 1 "We both believe that a well-tuned ski can improve your skiing and make it a lot more fun," said Scroggin. "Our goal is to send our customers' skis out of here as well tuned as we would want our personal skis." There is already a well-worn well-worn path through the snow to the Bottoms Up workshop, which houses a new belt sander and a base welder along with all of the basic equipment for mounting bindings and hot waxing skis. The shop is currently open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a pick-up request line open 24 hours a day. "We plan to do most of the work at night but we want people to know that they can get in touch with us at any time," said Scroggin. When the business is better established estab-lished later this month Bottoms Up will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., he said. To keep their overnight pick-up and delivery promise, prom-ise, Bottoms Up has purchased pur-chased a Chevy step van which will cover the territory terri-tory from Old Town to Summit Park. "If you call us we will pick up your skis that evening and have them back to you for tomorrow morning's morn-ing's powder," said Scrog-gins. The tuning services include in-clude refinishing and flattening flatten-ing bottoms, deburring edges, hotwaxing, beveling edges to manufacturers' specifications and mounting r and setting bindings. Repairs, however, may take more than 24 hours. "A well-tuned and waxed ski can often improve an individual's skiing skills by one entire class level. Sometimes Some-times a novice skier who is trying to learn a new technique blames himself for not catching on when it might really be the skis' fault," said Scroggin.
