You can rub your fingers on angora, wool, cotton, acrylic, and even mink. But don't expect to find pants or shirts or lacy lingerie anywhere in sight, because one of Park City's newest businesses carries just what its name says-Sweaters says-Sweaters Only. If you think about it, Sweaters Only is probably one of the best business ideas for a town such as Park City, but it took Linda Myers to come up with it. Myers who is buyermanager buyermana-ger for the store thinks the idea is unique, not only for this area, but for anywhere. "I've never heard of a store like this before," she said Friday. Thursday night marked the beginning for Sweaters Only. During the special grand opening Al Allen and Jill Snyder each was named the lucky winner of a free sweater in a drawing. Myers said the store did good business that first night, good enough for some customers custo-mers to remark that the store's stock is over 6,000 sweaters. Myers has been on the prowl for her stock since January, she says, travelling travel-ling all over the country to find the right merchandise. And she will need a large stock to carry out one of her plans for the shop. She is going to rotate the majority of the displayed sweaters on a weekly basis. By constantly constant-ly changing what is out on the floor, Myers will be continually treating customers custo-mers to a new selection of sweaters. And if you like sweaters (its hard not to in Park City), you will love the choices. Myers says much of her stock is in the $40 to $60' range, but that there is much more. The $2,000 sweater is one of her many designer sweaters. It is unlike any other, with a mink stole woven onto a regular sweater. swea-ter. Myers says some of her lines are designed especially espe-cially for Sweaters Only. She explained that the idea for the store came from her dealings in the other two stores she manages the Leatherworks, and Leather and Lace. Myers bought so many sweaters for the Leatherworks shop that it struck her that a shop carrying only sweaters could do well here. Her suppliers agree. She says they have told her the store is a great idea. So have the designers. Many designers design-ers have approached her about having their lines in Sweaters Only, hearing about the business by word of mouth. To transform the old Lolo's restaurant into two retail shops (the Old Soft Shoe has the other half) was not an easy task. "It was a total renovation," Myers says. A kitchen had to be removed, a wall built down the center of the space, all remnants of the restaurant removed. The finished product is appealing. The store has p modern, clean look, with a color scheme of gray, black, and silver. To give people added incentive for coming in the store, Myers plans to have a drawing every Saturday Satur-day for a free sweater. The hours for Sweaters Only will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. . -V - - " Linda Myers surrounded by fleece galore. |
