Christensen is taking over for Mary Runge, who was selected to fill Toomey's former position as Art Festival director. Christensen originally applied for the festival director opening, but said she is pleased with the way things turned out. "My background is really in public relations, so when I was offered this position instead, I accepted immediately," Christensen said. ; In addition to public relations assignments for the Repertory Dance Theater, the Bountiful Art Center and Environments in Salt Lake City, Christensen has extensive experience exper-ience with the University of Utah Program for Higher Education. For the last two and a half years she has worked as an associate academic programmer for the division of continuing education. She had already established contact with the Kimball Art Center in that capacity by helping to expand the division's class offerings in Park City. "The programming has been aimed at people who want to earn liberal arts credits without driving to the University every day," she said. The next quarter begins March 25 . Christensen's new responsibilities also will include establishing contacts con-tacts with artists who wish to exhibit their work. "I'm excited to be involved with the arts again," said Christensen, who confesses to "playing around with paints" herself. "If anyone has any questions about exhibiting their work at the art center I am the one to contact," she said. "I'm anxious to get as many people involved with the art center as possible. As far as I am concerned the more people are exposed to art the better." |
