Show Junior P.C. hockey players take high hopes to Spokane I s Hockey may be overshadowed by skiing in Utah, but for two Park City athletes, it's the only game in , town. Except this weekend, when it's out of town in Spokane, Washington. Punky Sarazine and Jim Kilpatrick of Park City, who prefer ice to snow, and skates to skis, will join their teammates on the Utah Competition Travel Team in Spokane for the U.S. Western Regional Championships of the American Hockey Association. Associa-tion. Sarazine is a member of the Utah Pee Wee Travel Team (ages 11-12) and Kilpatrick skates for the Squirts (ages 9-10). They hope to take their respective teams to the U.S. National Championships Champion-ships in Boston, Massachusetts in two weeks.' But to get to Boston, the Utah team, composed of hockey players from throughout the state, must get past the eight-team field in Spokane, which includes squads from California, Washington, Montana, Idaho and Utah. Playoff action begins on Friday and concludes Sunday. . The two Park City skaters are part of the Utah Hockey Association, which numbers about 600 participants. It is a a non-profit organization which relies on public donations and contributions from families to meet the players' expenses, which reach about $3,000 a year. |
