Periods of uninterrupted business use can now be recorded as a singe entry in a log or diary. For example, a repairman who leaves the shop in the morning and calls on a dozen customers one after the other, need only make a single entry for the series of calls. There will also be four special exceptions to the requirement for "adequate contemporaneous records.". (1) Farmers (those who earn 70 percent or more of their gross income from farming) need not keep strict usage records on certain vehicles such as pickups and trucks. They may instead either (a) keep records of personal use of the vehicle or (b) keep no records and treat 80 percent of the vehicle's use as business and 20 percent as personal. This exception does not apply to cars used by farmers. (2) Records do not need to be kept on a vehicle used in a trade or business if the vehicle is kept at the business site during non-business hours, and if the vehicle is not used for personal purposes. (3) Where employers require employees to use business vehicles to go to and from work (commuting), no recordkeeping is required if the employer allows no other personal use of the vehicle and includes in the employee's income an amount that reflects the use for commuting. (4) Taxpayers in sales or service work may choose (a) to keep records of just the personal use of the vehicle, or (b) keep no records and either treat 70 percent of the vehicle's use as business and 30 percent as personal if the vehicle is a car, or treat 80 percent as business and 20 percent if the vehicle is a truck or some other vehicle designed primarily for commercial use. Farmers may be able to use this fourth exception for their farm automobiles. 550 MAIN STREET, PARK CITY, UT 645-7390 445 EAST 4500 SOUTH, SLC, UT 261 -3459 9 Car 19 Restaurant 8 (( Serving Dinner DAILY V 5p.m.-ll p.m. fgflgiSgf I featuring- , IgSJfajESpSl a new menu with ff " Pasta Steaks if , Veal Chicken 4ai 1 chps I, ' ' P Child's menu I from $3,50 UibJ 1 Open Daily For Breakfast 6 a.m.-12 noon Priority Reservations Accepted II 438 Main St. ' Hear Entrance & VyNk649-9338 Parking in Swede Alley CsS |
