' .i - hi - ' ' A' J in the downhill, and fifth in both the slalom and giant slalom events. Nobis was second in the slalom, fourth in the giant slalom and seventh in the downhill. Among the JUI skiers, only Danny Tebbs and Essie Doilney can boast Olympic experience. They competed last year, although Danny was then a JIV racer. They will lead the talented foursome of Shannon Nobis, Ali Salomon, Jill Maasberg and Hilary Felton into their first Junior Olympics. For these Park City skiers, a big dream has been realized. Now they set their sights on Mount Olympus as they attempt to scale the summit. jn skiers, said that Stephanie was the "first skier selected to the team. That's quite an honor." The 14-year old freshman has been winning consistently throughout the season and she continued her winning ways last Friday and Saturday when she claimed two victories in downhill competition at Park City in the last stop of the Intermountain Division ski racing circuit. (See accompanying story). In last year's JTH Junior Olympics, Stephanie finished first in the downhill, and third in both the giant slalom and slalom events. She will lead two teammates, Cammy Potter and Bridget Leschom, who will be making their JO debut, into JII competition at Jackson Hole. Bret Johnson and Tyler Tebbs, who a year ago as JIII racers won the JO downhill and giant slalom events respectively, will lead an experienced exper-ienced five-man contingent from Park City. Joining the defending titlists are Jere Calmes, Jacob Doilney and Jeremy Nobis, each of whom also competed in last year's Junior Olympics. In addition . to his win in the downhill last year, Johnson finished third in the giant slalom. Tebbs added a third in the downhill. Calmes managed a 24th-place finish in the giant slalom. Doilney was 45th by Dave Adler To qualify for the Junior Olympics is the dream of every young ski racer from Utah to Vermont. For 14 members of the Park City Ski Team, that dream became reality when they were named Saturday to the Intermountain Division Junior Olympic Olym-pic Team. Among those selected are Stephanie Steph-anie Palmer, Bret Johnson and Tyler Tebbs, who will join other Junior n (ages 14-15) Division skiers next week at Jackson Hole where they will seek Junior Olympic titles. The JUI skiers (ages 12-13) will also compete next week, but at Mt. Alyeska in Alaska.
