Show Cycle race a possibility "There is a strong possibility that the Coors International Bicycle Classic will select Park City as a race site in 1986," said Jay Bundy of the Park City ChamberBureau. For the past decade the Coors Classic (formerly the Red Zinger Classic) has been held exclusively on Colorado turf, but this summer the race has been expanded to include stages in Colorado and California. In 1986, Park City could become the host for a third leg of this prestigious event. Local cyclist Tom Noaker calls the Coors Classic "America's Tour de France." It annually draws the best pro teams of Europe to Colorado, he said. Preliminary plans call for Park City to host a criterium and a road race event. A criterium consists of multiple laps on a short course and is excellent for spectators, Noaker said. The road race would be over 100 miles long and would be held on a nine-mile loop.
