Appointments are available for morning, afternoon and evening clinics. Examinations are performed by a nurse practitioner. Services include physical exams, Pap tests, counseling and education, VD screening, pregnancy testing and contraceptive supplies. Costs are reasonable. Eligibility is based on gross annual household income, household size, area of residence and type of fuel used. H.E.A.T. now is accepting applications from handicapped individuals and those age 60 and older. Applications from the general public will be taken Nov. 5 through April 30. For information call 1-800-662-3633 (533-6666 in the Salt Lake). 111 Federal medical assistance Some Utah families may be eligible for federal medical assistance. Families must have received AFDC (Aid to Families with Dependent Children) cash assistance after Oct. 1, 1981; individuals must have received a notice that the case was closed because of ineligibility in earned income deduction ; and . must meet AFDC eligibility requirements for each month since the AFDC case was closed. The earned income deduction will be allowed in determining eligibility. For more information call 649-9461. 111 Defensive driving Utah's defensive driving course is an eight-hour classroom course which has been recognized by the Utah Department of Public Safety as part of its driver improvement activities. Drivers who enroll and successfully complete the course receive a 50-point reduction on their driving records once in any three-year three-year period. Classes start in Salt Lake at 9 a.m. on Nov. 3 at the Utah Safety Council Training Centers no. 1 and no. 2. Registration fee is $20.
