Show Ski theft marks start of season Ski season began officially this week at the Park City Police Department when officers answered the first call on the theft of two pairs of skis from an automobile ski rack. On Oct. 20. Makan Khalsa reported to the police that two pairs of cross -country skis were stolen from his car while it was parked at the underground parking at the Sweetwater Condominiums on Empire Avenue. The gear is valued at $240. fVhhip Mprtell told police on Oct. 27 that a large amount of prescription drugs had been stolen from her residence on Doc Holiday Drive. The drugs are valued at $40. Police have a suspect in the case. On Oct. 23, a report of "loose cattle" was reported in the Fairway Village area. An earlier report to police by Stewart Felton claimed that deer hunters were hunting in the Fairway Village area. It is not known if the two calls from the Fairway Village area are related. On Oct. 21. Steve Balfour reported that stereo equipment had been stolen from his Daly Avenue residence during his absence. The equipment is valued at $2,950. Dee Gressler called police on Oct. 20 to report the theft of trees from Compark Plaza. Apparently the thieves made entry through a window which had been broken. The trees are valued at $220. A ceramic unicorn is missing from the lobby at Shadow Ridge. The unicorn is valued at $150. A Salt Lake City man, Jeff F. Garcia, 1705 E. 4800 South was arrested Oct. 18 for possession of a controlled substance. According to the police report, he was pulled over when officers noticed that the car he was driving had no license plate. Upon searching Garcia, a marijuana pipe and a package of white powder were discovered. He was cited for possession of a controlled substance, driving with expired registration and driving with an open container in the car. In addition, Park City police made one DUI arrest last week. Fifth Circuit Court Arnold Story of Craig, Colorado was found guilty of DUI in Fifth Circuit Court on Oct. 19. In his absence, Story was fined $405 and sentenced to 30 days in jail by Judge Raymond F. Uno. |
