His experience and leadership qualifications together with his positions on major issues facing Summit County merit your support. Consider the following. Public Safety Tom feels that one agency in the county should be given absolute responsibility for highway safety. Specific responsibility must be assumed for highway safety signs and signals. HealthCare Summit County people deserve the most feasible and professional health care. With winter storms often closing roads, emergency services are vital. The county can create the climate to attract private medical health care centers in major areas of the county. County Roads Roads need to be fixed to last more than one year. Quick fix projects end up costing more year after year on the same problem spots. The need for reconstruction methods by proper design and practice; needs to be implemented. He would as requested by majority involved support special service units in bonding to upgrade year-round residential areas with dirt or gravel roads. County Budget In a county with a projected budget of $4,696,927 and assessed valuation approaching $500,000,000.00 proper budgeting practices are essential. Through savings and proper fiscal management . consideration should be given extending the prosperity of the good years toward securing the lean years. Paid for by the committee Private Enterprise I Tom is a strong supporter of the concept of free I enterprise and the small businessman. And will do I all he can to fight taxes and increased regulation. I Full-Time Commissioners I At this time he does not support a full-time I commission or career-seeking commissioners. It I doesn't appear necessary at this time to go from a I commission that meets one day a week to three full- I time commissioners. It would appear that the I commission would graduate its involvement to I meet as needed. I Land Use Planning I I believe in the basic right of property owners to I own real estate with the least amount of I regulations. However, a county master plan and I development cede is basic to implementation of I proper county growth and control. I Tourism and Recreation I Tourism is a vital revenue source for Summit I County, it creates employment and commerce. I Summit County being located close to the Salt Lake I International Airport and 1 million population has I recreational potential envied by most Utah I Counties. These current and potential tax revenues I can continue to help lesson the tax burden on home I and land owners through proper policy I implementation.
