Show Halloween to provide chills for kids of all ages by Nan ( halat Dust oil your monster masks, your angel wings and vampire fangs-Halloween fangs-Halloween is around the comer. And in true Park City fashion there will be costume parties for all ages. The festivities will begin with a Pumpkin Patch at Parley's Park Elementary School at 9 a.m. Monday. Preschool and elementary school age children are welcome to participate. The cost is 50 cents. On Tuesday the Miners Hospital Library will help local young witches, k ghosts and goblins get into an appropriately spooky mood with an Abbott and Costello movie. The film will be shown at the library at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. On Wednesday the Treasure Mountain Middle School will host a Halloween Carnival geared for elementary through midle school aged children. The carnival will feature a variety of booths from Dunk the Teacher to Spook Alley. According to the carnival's co-chairman co-chairman Denna Wright theie will be face and fingernail painting, fortune telling, a fishing pond and a bean bag toss Tickets lor the bootus w ill be 25 cents each. Hamburger dinners including drinks and ice cream will be available for $2 The carnival is being organized by the middle school Parent Teacher Organization and Community Council. Coun-cil. Admission is $1 for a one-book donation to the school library. For grown-up ghouls there w ill be a number of parties to choose from. The Alamo will host the John Winston Curtis Willey Band and a series of costume contests. The band plays rock and roll and blues dance music and will begin at 9:30 p.m. There will be a $1 cover charge. At A Horse of a Different Color restaurant Dolph and the Reflections will play "oldies but goodies'' from 9 p.m. to midnight. A $5 cover charge includes hors d'oeuvres. There also will be cu.h prize for the best costumes. The Poison Creek Club at Janeaux's will feature a Couple's Costume Contest with an overnight ski package at Snowbird as first prize. The festivities begin at 9 p.m. And at the Rusty Nail the infamous ".Nightriders" will throw a centennial Halloween party with a $1(10 prize for the best costume. There will be a cover charge of $8 which includes beer, setups and music by the Dr. Bop band. The party will begin at 8:30 p.m. For those brave enough to head down to Salt Lake City, the L'tah Arts Festival will host a Halloween Howl at the Key Airlines hangar at 500 North 2400 West. The Bobs and the Saliva Sisters (along with the Disgusting Brothers) will provide the music Tickets are $10 at the door. The proceeds will benefit the Utah Arts Festival. |
