Show Preliminary budget presented to P.C. Board of Education by Nan ( liahit A tentative budget proposal propos-al for the 1984-85 school year was presented to the Park City Board of Education Tuesday night. The budget is based on a 32 percent increase in the assessed valuation of the district and includes a predicted assessment assess-ment of 36.29 mills. Although Al-though the proposed property proper-ty tax levy represents a reduction of 3.85 mills from last year, the increase in valuation would mean that Park City School District residents may still see an increase in their taxes. According to the preliminary prelimi-nary budget presented by Superintendent Tony Mitchell Mit-chell and Business Administrator Adminis-trator Bill Sampson, the district is tentatively planning plan-ning to assess 3 mills of the voted leeway money approved approv-ed last fall. The board could assess up to 4.02 mills. The tentative budget proposal pro-posal is available at the school district office. A more complete draft will be ready tor review on June 1 and win be presented for adoption at the Board of Education meeting on June 12. The budget projections are based on a five percent increase in enrollment in the district next year. Once again the district expects to pay more than $1 million into the State Minimum School program. pro-gram. Included in this initial proposal are several salary raise options and what each raise increment would require re-quire in terms of additional mill levies. A 12 perceni raise, for instance, would require 1.1601 of the voted leeway mills and would bring the potential 1984-85 average teacher's salary to $22,865. The budget also includes a list of proposed capital projects which would require a total expenditure of $1.25 million. Among those projects pro-jects are: landscaping at the Treasure Mountain Middle School, a math science addition addi-tion to the high school and the purchase of three new school buses. |
