Show Korean baby goes home, but donations still sought ' J 1 I if by Teri (ionies little Kim, Tae Hyun, is now back at home with his family in Korea. Three of the four holes in his heart have been repaired, and now Tae Hyun can expect to live a normal life. The child was brought to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City in February for the delicate surgery when his parents were told of the chances of a successful operation here. They had been told by Korean doctors there was nothing that could be done for him. But an American nurse Maureen O'Keefe, working in a Korean hospital, convinced them there was treatment available in the United States. This winter's operation was the second for Tae Hyun in four years. It is hoped this will be the last. Local physicians, including part time Parkite Herb Rutten-berg, Rutten-berg, donated their services. But the hospital services were not donated. Money ws needed to pay for the youngster's care. An appeal went out. To date, $2,000 of the needed $10,000 has been paid. "Tae Hyun spent a number num-ber of days with us and therefore there-fore he spent a great deal of time in Park City," said Mrs. Susan Ruttenberg. "The response locally was wonderfulIke wonder-fulIke and Billie Coleman, for example, had him in their pre-school during his recovery recov-ery period and everyone there fell in love with him. They charged nothing for his stay. Other Park City people bought him clothes and toys it was a wonderful experience for him to meet so many warm Americans." The plight of Tae Hyun was carried by the Park Record in February, along with the Salt Lake Tribune, the Deseret News and three local radio stations. The Ruttenbergs say they will continue to work with Heal the Children, the organization dedicated to bringing children in need of medical services in touch with those doctors who are willing to provide those services free of charge.
