Show County general services office formed The Summit County Commission Com-mission on Tuesday approved approv-ed a General Services (G.S.) Department which will act, in effect, as staff for the County Commission. Stan Strebel, now county planner, was named to head the department, whose . chores will range from special district operations to custodial work. County Commissioner Cliff Blonquist said about $30,000 has been set aside to run the department. It will take effect on June 1. The assistant county planner, plan-ner, Jerry Smith, will be acting head of planning, pending a permanent appointment. ap-pointment. General Services tasks will include the following: Supervision of county buildings in Coalville, Kamas and Park City. This would mean handling leases, any uunuuig or remodeling and maintenance. Assisting the commission commis-sion on agendas and correspondence, corres-pondence, keeping track of contracts and grants, and any other duties as assigned by the board. Supervising capital improvements im-provements and coordinating the engineering on projects. ' The operation and organization or-ganization of special districts. dis-tricts. Handling benefits and insurance programs for county coun-ty staffers. Caring for radio TV translator sites, including their maintenance and federal fed-eral licensing. Commissioner Gerald Young noted that G.S. head Strebel has done different jobs for the county. Commissioner Ron Perry said the new office will handle day-to-day administrative adminis-trative duties in the future. |
