Show elal Ibirleffs Plans are underway for high school addition Flans are underway for a new mathscienee wing at the Park City High School. According to Board of Education President Gary Avise, the district could break ground on the project this summer. The architectural firm of Edwards and Daniels, which designed the high school, has been asked to present several design options for the new wing at a special board meeting on Tuesday, May 29. The firm has been also asked to work on a master plan for future expansion which could include a second gymnasium and an auditorium. TMMS visited by accreditation team The Treasure Mountain Middle School recently completed the accreditation process conducted by the State Office of Education and passed its preliminary report with flying colors, said principal Brian Schiller. The accreditation process is a voluntary evaluation which lends credibility to the school's curiculum; said Board of Education President Gary Avise. Schiller and the entire middle school staff was commended by the board for the amount of work it put into the accreditation assessment and report. The report is contained in two documents which are available to the public on request. L The final evaluation by the accreditation team will be available in September. Both the Parley's Park Elementary School and the Park City High School have already received accreditation. New student body officers elected The Park City High School student body has elected new officers of-ficers for the coming school year. Tuesday afternoon Robbie Smith won the presidential post and Michelle McReynolds was elected secretary. The race for vice-president resulted in a tie between Mark Richardson and Chris Elkins. There will be a runoff election today. Sewer easement negotiations continue In response to the Snyderville Basin Sewer Improvement District's request for an easement on school district property along Kearns Boulevard, the Park City Board of Education voted to offer an exchange of easement rights for three free school hookups. The offer was presented to Sewer District Manager Ed Davis Tuesday night. Teacher salary talks to begin The Park City Board of Education plans to begin salary negotiations with the Park City Education Association this week. Tuesday night Superintendent Tony Mitchell, Business Administrator Bill Sampson, and Board members Gary Avise and Nancy McComb, were named to the negotiating team. Last year's salary negotiations did not begin until November after the voted leeway election. |
