The Southern South-ern Pacltlc railroad yesterday Inaugurated Inaugu-rated a freight service over the Dumbarton Dum-barton bridge, which crosses the southern end of San Francisco bay. The bridge Is a steel structure, with double tracks, 7. 'JO.) feet in length. Together with the cutoff line, which runs from Newark, iu Alameda county, coun-ty, to Redwood City. In San Mateo county, it cost J4.ooo.uoo. The cutoff Is primarily for freight passage and will carry all northwer-t-em and eastern shipments Into ami out of San Franci-co. Hitherto freight has been ferried across the bay.
