Show OPENING M CUT-OFF TO THE COAST General Superintendent T. F. Rowland, Row-land, Assistant Superintendent T. Fitzgerald, Roadma.ster J. Ready, Su-vlsor Su-vlsor of Bridges and Buildings M. Fisher and Signal Superintendent .1. E. Lyons went west this morning in the private car Yellowstone to inspect the Salt Uike division of the Southern Pacific. It is believed that the party will be present tomorrow at the opening open-ing of the new California & Nevada line at Kee'er, Cal. The new stretch of rails between Kecler and Mojave will mean another Southern Pacific route to Los Angeles. The new line branches from tho main line at Hazen, New, running to Tono-pah Tono-pah Junction. From this junction there is a narrow gauge road extending extend-ing to Keeler, at which point the new road to be opened tomorrow begins. Tho narrow gauge line is to be converted con-verted into a standard gauge, some of the material for the improvement fcolng already on the ground. When the work Is completed, through trains will be run between Ogdcn and ls Angeles over the new line instead of over the coast route. |
