Ractmlological examinations, vivisection vivi-section and post mortems were etart-ed etart-ed yesterday by tho city board of health to discover the cause and effect ef-fect of the mysterious epidemic which Is killing millions of wild fowl In Utah. The examinations are being be-ing made by the loard of health, particularly par-ticularly to ascertain whether there Is danger in the use of wild fowls ;ts food, but It will be thorough enough to be of poneral value to sportsmen and others. R. W. Ashley. M. D : T. II. Glenn. M. D.. and J. W. Tremen. n. V. S.. procured their "patients" jesterdayj from the New State Gun club ground. These consisted of one sma.ll snipe, one large snipe, one crane, one teal . and cue canvabaek duck. All of the j birds were alive when caught, but ; they were "dopy" from the effects of their malady. Post rnortems on four cf the birds showed no evidences that they had Tion polconci'., but numerous lesions were found In the posterior part of the lower Intestines, and one of the hlrds was affected with parasites, the exact nature of which had not been determined last night. A plscon was Innoculated with blood from one of the affected birds and this Is being kept for tutudy while ten or twelv bartprlologlcal cultures are being made In an effort to find the caue of the disease. All of the birds wore In good fleh. and plenty of food in their crops disproved dis-proved the theory that the birds were Marvlog. It will hf several days be- |
