Show COUICIL PASSES VETO OVER MAYOR A short time ago Janitor J. V. Nelson took a vacation and, It seems, he appointed Fred Nalsbltt to fill tho position during his absence. At a previous meeting of tho council Mr. j Nalsbltt presented a bill for $30 and ; it was allowed, but when It come be. fore the mayor he refused to sign the claim and ho submitted his reasons rea-sons to the couucll last evening for so doing. ' The mayor's veto did not Aire well in this instance, however, It being passed over his head by a unanimous i vote. The mayor's veto reads as follows: "To the Honorable PPresldcnt and Members of the Citv Council, Ogden, Utah. Gentlemen: I return herewith the claim of Fred Nalsbitt for $30 00 as janitor of the City Hall. I have no I knowledge or recollection of having appointed Mr. Nalsbitt as janitor, and i I believe the law authorizes the May-; May-; or to appoint tho janitor of the City i Hall. I "If Mr. Nalsbitt has been acting as I a substitute janitor for the present I janitor he must look to the party ap-i ap-i pointing him to his position for his l pay. The claim is not only unlawful, but I believe tho price paid to the janitor of the City Hall is sufficient for him-to hire his own assistants whenever ho wishes to take a vacation vaca-tion Respectfully submitted.
